Senior Front End Developer at Which? (London, UK)

We're looking for a Senior Front End Developer to join our London based Engineering team on a permanent basis.

Despite the current circumstances we are still actively recruiting for roles. In compliance with UK Government advice relating to COVID-19 this role will be remotely based in line with our current workforce and we will supply you with the tools and technologies to enable you to do so. Similarly all interviews will be conducted by google hangouts or equivalent video conferring technologies.

It's a pivotal time for Technology at Which? as we drive forward our ambitious transformation programme, putting users at the heart of every product we create evolving our technologies to deliver best in class user experiences. Over the next twelve months we will be developing both our commercial and advocacy product offering, trialling new ways of working, driving innovative approaches and introducing cutting edge technology at every opportunity.

What you can expect

From our high-traffic websites to our emerging apps, we want customers to access information in the way that suits them. As our Senior Front End Developer, reporting to a technical lead you'll make sure our sites look and feel great and offer a brilliant online experience.

Working with some awesome tech including modern JavaScript, React and Node.js, you'll be joining us at an excellent time too, as we advance our digital evolution and adapt our ways of working, leveraging methodologies including Lean Canvas to drive innovation through squads.

We'll align your expertise to one of our core products and you will work as part of a cross functional team of UX Designers, Developers and QA to prototype new ideas, develop new tools and iterate our existing products. What's more with our design system project in flight you can expect to gain some good experience in this area, working with the team to create a library of REACT components.

As our Senior Front End Developer we will rely on your expertise to shape and implement new solutions. We'll expect you to challenge, solve problems and be a real collaborator. Although you won't have any formal line management responsibility, we expect you to be a role model for the team; maintaining standards, driving innovation, and helping your product team deliver value to our users every Sprint. Working closely with a Tech Lead, you will help develop others for the world of tomorrow, through peer reviews, pair programming and sharing your expert knowledge and being inclusive in your approach.

What we'll need from you

It goes without saying that you're an excellent developer with a flair for creating stand out user experiences. Naturally, we'll need you to have expert JavaScript, React, CSS/SASS and HTML5 skills, and we'll need you to be familiar with or have a desire to learn Node.js and JavaScript testing frameworks.

You'll enjoy working collaboratively with those around you, and take a keen interest in mentoring and developing fellow team members, and we'll want to understand where you have done the same previously.

We are always impressed by an eagerness to learn and a proactive attitude, and would be keen to explore your projects, Github activity and contributions.

What we'll give you in return

We recognize that investing in our team of experts is one of the best ways to support our ambitious journey, and with that encourage knowledge sharing and learning; whether that's attending a tech conference, hosting a meet up or access to LinkedIn Learning. We work hard to develop our employees.

Our newly refurbished modern working environment is relaxed and friendly (including fresh fruit, subsidised canteen, great facilities for cyclists and lunchtime runners). We have a 35 hour working week and offer flexible working with each team working one day from home.

There are excellent benefits including 28 days annual leave, private healthcare, and excellent pension scheme (and the usuals... Cycle to Work, season ticket loan scheme etc.) We even have access to a private section of Regent's park which is handy for hot summers and team building events!

Its a great time to join as we have just launched our new values! Click here to find out what we feel reflects what we do and how we work!

At Which? we value diversity and we're committed to creating an inclusive culture where everyone is able to be themselves and to reach their full potential. We want to receive applications from all regardless of age, gender identity, disability, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy or maternity, religion or belief, race or ethnic origin, sex, sexual orientation, transgender status, social economic background etc. We believe that a diverse workforce helps us to understand and create a positive impact for consumers. We want to ensure that everybody can apply and be part of our recruitment processes, and therefore when required we make reasonable adjustments to accommodate our candidates.

If this sounds like the role for you then we would love to hear from you.
